Tianeping Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section lies at Dabeitang, about 2.5 km southwest of Tianeping, Guiyang County, Hunan. It was named by Tang Zhenxiu and Tang Xiaoshan in 1983.
Synonym: Tian'eping Fm; Dashaiba Fm (in Guangdong Prov.)
Lithology and Thickness
Sandy claystone. Composed of shale, sandy shale, marl and siltstone, intercalated with clayey limestone and quartz sandstone. From north to south, sandy components decrease while calcareous components increase. Thickness 30−150 m, stable in lithology.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Conformable contact with the underlying Malanbian Fm
Upper contact
Conformable contact with the overlying Doulingao Fm (Douling'ao Fm)
Regional extent
Widely distributed. Besides central and southern Hunan, it extends southward to northern Guangdong as the Dashaiba Fm and to northern Guangxi as the upper member of Yingtang Fm. Generally intercalated with quartz sandstone in central Hunan, and with only clayey sandstone in southern Hunan, or more or less siliceous rocks.

Fossils
It contains the upper part of Brachiopod Eochoristites-Martiniella zone and corals Pseudouralinia sp. and Keyserlingophyllum sp.,
